Florida Gambling Study Gives Vague Answers



Is Florida ready for more games of possibility? A new commissioned study says, ‘Why not?’

Florida is currently one of the more active states when it comes to gambling. There are casinos, racetracks, and jai alai frontons, and many of the venues look most likely to see slots coming to them in the future that is near. And that’s okay, according to a new report that says such an expansion could have only a ‘minimal’ impact on the state from both an economic and social perspective.

Effect of Gambling Examined

That has been the biggest finding from a report by the Spectrum Gaming Group, a fresh Jersey-based research firm that performed the research on behalf of the Florida Legislature. The report cost $400,000 to finish, and was taken so as to weigh the potential effect and costs of expanded gambling in the Sunshine State.

In accordance with the report, those effects will be little.

‘The expansion of casino gambling, whether on a little scale or really major, would have, at best, a moderately positive effect on the state economy,’ the report stated.

That conclusion isn’t prone to excite or infuriate anyone. But more interesting, perhaps, was information gleaned about Florida’s current gambling market.

Neighborhood Culinary Union Berating Cosmopolitan Tourists in Vegas

UPDATE: October 25, 2013 After the release of these videos where Culinary Union Local 226 people were seen regularly tossing epithets and verbal abuse at tourists entering the Cosmopolitan the union’s protests are placed on hold until Nov. 1. The group encompasses some 55,000 bartenders, maids and food servers in Las Vegas, and happens to be at odds about dilemmas such as for instance healthcare, job security, compensation and even successorship, ie., what are the results if Cosmopolitan gets offered to another company by Deutsche Bank at some point.

The protests have already been costing taxpayers an average of $2,600 in extra police patrols, according to the Alliance to Protect Nevada Jobs, a group that is dedicated to putting an end to the union’s assaults on tourists.

Appeals Court Backs EPT Concord in Concord Associates Agreement Case



A US appeals court ruled in favor of resort operator EPR Resorts, previously known as EPT Concord.
